Important Class info….

FOOTWEAR:

All Junior/Montessori (12pm-12:45pm), Senior Infants (12:45pm - 1:30pm) and 1st and 2nd Class (1:30pm-2:30pm) should arrive wearing their Tap Shoes. Other footwear is not required for these groups.

All classes from 3pm onwards should have both Tap Shoes, and light runners for class.

HAIR & CLOTHING

Please wear your hair tied back/off your face.

No denim.

Light clothes should be worn

DROP OFF/ COLLECTION:

Please ensure that you drop off and collect your child at the specific class times to facilitate the smooth running of classes.

AUDITION GUIDELINES FOR PRINCIPAL ROLES IN THE ANNUAL SHOW

GILL STAGE SCHOOL

The class choral and dance numbers make up the bulk of the annual Show.

In addition, some pupils will play principal roles.

Every pupil is encouraged to audition for one of these roles.

The musical director and dance instructor will prepare audition pieces which will be practised in class beforehand.

Each pupil auditions for singing individually, with one singing piece.

(They can choose which one of the two pieces taught in class beforehand)

Each pupil auditions for dancing in small groups.

The criteria for being in with a chance of performing one of these roles in the

annual show is:

• SHOWING COMPETENCY AT THE AUDITION IN VOCAL ABILITY I.E. TONE, VOLUME, DICTION

• SHOWING COMPETENCY AT DANCE MOVES

• SHOWING GOOD FACIAL EXPRESSION WHEN SINGING OR DANCING

If a pupil attains a satisfactory level of competency at their audition, their name will be put on a ‘panel’ for consideration.

From this panel, the teachers will decide who gets to play the particular roles, based on the above, and the number of principal parts available in the Show.

A lot of extra rehearsals by both teachers and principals are required to perfect these principal roles to performance level.
